We're proud to announce GVI is now an AA Preferred Dealer. Here's what that means, why it matters when buying a used EV, and the extra peace of mind it gives you

What is an AA Preferred Dealer?
The AA has been looking after New Zealand motorists for well over a century, and it is consistently ranked as one of the most trusted brands in the country. When the AA puts its name behind something, Kiwis pay attention, and for good reason.
An AA Preferred Dealer is a motor vehicle trader that has been independently certified by the AA to meet its standards of quality. It is not something you can simply sign up for and display. It is a status that has to be earned by meeting the AA's criteria and passing its review and selection process. In short, the AA has assessed us, checked how we operate, and decided we meet the standard required to carry its name.
The AA does not hand its reputation out lightly. Being invited into the Preferred Dealer Network means the AA is confident enough in our vehicles and our service to actively recommend us to its members and to motorists who ask for a trusted dealer. That is not a small thing.
Why becoming an AA Preferred Dealer matters

For us, this milestone matters on a few levels.
It is external validation of something we have always believed in. We have always aimed to sell quality vehicles honestly and to look after our customers properly. Becoming an AA Preferred Dealer means an independent, respected third party has looked at how we do things and agreed that we meet a high standard. That is a genuine point of pride for our whole team.
It reflects a commitment, not just a moment. Maintaining AA Preferred Dealer status is not a one-off tick in a box. It requires an ongoing commitment to keeping our standards high across our stock and our service. It is a promise we make and keep, every day, not a certificate we earned once and forgot about.
And most importantly, it is about you. Everything about this status ultimately comes back to giving our customers more confidence and more peace of mind when they buy from us. That is the part that matters most, so let's talk about what it actually means for you.
What it means for you as a buyer
This is where the AA Preferred Dealer status stops being about us and starts being about you. Here is what it genuinely delivers.
Independent checks on the vehicles we sell. As an AA Preferred Dealer, the majority of the vehicles in our yard will have been through an AA Appraisal. This is an independent inspection carried out by the AA, not by us, covering a 43-point mechanical and safety check along with an overall evaluation. It means someone other than the seller has independently assessed the vehicle before it is offered to you.
The all-important independent road test. One of the most valuable parts of the AA Appraisal is the road test. For a used import, this may well be the first time the vehicle has been driven on New Zealand roads by someone other than the dealer. The road test helps identify things a static inspection simply cannot, such as leaks, unusual noises, and how the vehicle behaves at normal operating temperature. For imported vehicles that have been through compliance, it also confirms the car has been correctly reassembled afterward.
Verified odometers on imported vehicles. Freshly imported vehicles sold through an AA Preferred Dealer have their odometer independently verified by an AA-accredited partner. In a market where odometer accuracy is a genuine concern, particularly for imports, having that reading independently checked rather than taken at face value is real, tangible protection for you.
A dealer the AA is willing to stand behind. Perhaps the simplest way to put it: the AA logo on our business tells you that we are backed by one of New Zealand's most trusted automotive brands. The AA has assessed us and is willing to recommend us. When a buyer asks the AA for a trusted dealer, we are now the kind of dealer they point to.
Added roadside peace of mind. The AA Preferred Dealer programme is designed around buyer confidence from every angle, including support that gives you extra peace of mind after you drive away, not just before.
Why this matters even more when buying an EV
Buying any used car involves an element of trust. Buying a used electric vehicle adds another layer, because on top of all the usual mechanical checks, there is the battery and the EV-specific systems to consider.
That makes independent, trusted verification even more valuable. When you buy an EV from an AA Preferred Dealer, you get the reassurance of the AA's independent checks and standards on top of our own EV expertise. It is the combination of a specialist EV dealer and an independent, trusted third-party standard, working together in your favour.
We have always believed that buying an EV should be exciting and confidence-inspiring, not daunting. Becoming an AA Preferred Dealer is another significant step in making sure every customer feels exactly that way when they buy from us.
The same commitment, now independently backed
The truth is, becoming an AA Preferred Dealer has not changed how we operate, because we were already committed to selling quality vehicles and looking after our customers properly. What it has done is give that commitment an independent stamp of approval that you can see and trust.
When you buy from GVI now, you get everything we have always offered, our EV knowledge, our honest approach, nationwide delivery, remote purchase options, and genuine after-sales care, plus the added confidence of knowing we meet the standards of the AA Preferred Dealer Network.
We are proud of this milestone, and we are grateful to every customer who has trusted us to help them make the switch to electric. This one is for you.
